Photograph showing a steam train at Westerham on the now closed
Westerham Valley railway.
31530 - simmers at the platform in Westerham station. In keeping with
the usual practice the engine pulled towards Westerham and pushed back to
Dunton Green station.
Over the years the Westerham branch line has received
considerable coverage in th railway press. And rightly so!
Being steam stronghold in what was otherwise an electric
commuter land it was a very well photographed line, though
this was of little direct benefit to the railway itself as
the photographers probably out numbered the regular users.

practice the engine pulled towards Westerham and propelled
towards Dunton Green. The coach is half of the push-pull set
which, by this time comprised two ex-SR vehicles - the one
seen here used to be an open second, the other was an
ex-corridor brake compo.
